Awaara! Man what a Tapori Movie!

I was surprised to realize that I had never watched the movie "Awaara", a supposed classic movie by Raj Kapoor, loved in the Soviet Union and a favorite of Chairman Mao. I still remember a Chinese roomate of mine, once informing me that she knew an Indian song and then proceeding to sing, " Awaala hoon, oooh oooh ooo! Awaala hoon, oooh oooh ooo!" Wonder how I missed this "Great" movie, as I am sure that it was shown many times on Doordeva-darshan. Anyways, I just watched it on DVD, and man what a crappyyyyyyyy movie. It is a mixture of bad acting, bad dancing and improbable situations. It has a crew of bad actors starting with Pritviraj Kapoor, who speaks as if he has a lizard stuck up his ass throughout the movie and expressions of pure pain in having to speak his dialogues. Followed by KN Singh, one of the worst villians Indian movies have ever seen, who speaks as if he is reading bland prose, and believed that acting was all about staring interchangebly with narrow and wide eyes. Raj Kapoor, acts either as a bufoon or waxes melodramatically. Nargis is half way decent. Overall movie is pretty shitty. Raj Kapoor made a lot of movies speaking up for the downtrodded, but I doubt he did anything to help their cause, atleast I am not aware of it.
